“The girl that could breathe underwater. I read a book once with that title. That girl could breathe underwater and she found herself spending more time underwater than she did on land that the people on land began to forget about her. She became isolated and lonely. Forgetting how good it was to be on land. But this is a different girl altogether. 

This girl, though she loved the water, was terrified to go down deep. All her life she played at the surface and enjoyed the Sun shimmering on the top of the water. But she found herself being forced down deep. Terrified, as she was, she resisted with all her might thinking surely she could not hold her breath longer than 10 seconds, but she had no choice. The deep pulled her in.

And even as she thought she was about to die, a calm came over her. And she realized she could breathe underwater. Though still terrified of the deep, there is something new, a peace in the pain. Confidence in the chaos. A quiet assurance. It was not only demons down in the deep, but another Presence. Big, strong, comforting, she'd never known this before, splashing on the surface, but this here in the deep, was altogether different. Though it was indeed the same water she'd always played in. Though she did not choose it, she was grateful to be pulled into the deep. To encounter this new Presence and to discover she could indeed, breathe underwater.” -Kindra Back

I have this beauty obsession and it's by design. I am an artist who is a follower of Jesus and a lover of His Word. I create with Holy Spirit and trust Him to release healing of heart, mind, and body, and reveal light, truth and revelation of His beauty through my art (Psalm 19). Each painting comes with an individual prophetic word, Scripture or prayer to encourage your heart into the love of Jesus. My prayer is that you hear the whispers of God through my art. He speaks to us in so many ways!

I'm also compelled to create beauty when I behold the beauty all around that my Creator made, each facet a new expression of the beauty of God. I take in the simple joys and blessings here in this moment. When my soul is bursting with light I can't help but try to capture a fraction of it on canvas, if only to hold onto it a little bit longer and remember the goodness of God and the glorious wonder of who He is.

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and minor degrees in art history and psychology as well as a master's degree in Art Therapy and I'm a life long student in God's word. He is my greatest source of inspiration.
