Hosea 2 in the Bible tells the story of an unfaithful wife and her jealous husband. The husband has loved her and provided everything she needs yet she keeps chasing after other lovers. So rightfully so the husband responds with passion, "And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, Of which she has said, ‘These are my wages that my lovers have given me’" (v12) and ruins the life she lead with other lovers and instead graciously responds to her like this, "Therefore, behold, I will allure her, Will bring her into the wilderness, And speak comfort to her. I will give her her vineyards from there" (v14). He has taken away everything from her so that all she has left is him. Then, in the wilderness, he woes her, speaks comfort to her, and makes her fruitful IN THE WILDERNESS.

While this story is true, God asked Hosea to marry such a woman so He could show the people what their relationship was like. God, the faithful Husband, and this people, the unfaithful wife. His jealousy is appropriate, but then He wins her heart all over again, that is astonishing. So if you find yourself in a desert wilderness, don't resist the way God wants to meet you there and cause a garden to grow.

I have this beauty obsession and it's by design. I am an artist who is a follower of Jesus and a lover of His Word. I create with Holy Spirit and trust Him to release healing of heart, mind, and body, and reveal light, truth and revelation of His beauty through my art (Psalm 19). Each painting comes with an individual prophetic word, Scripture or prayer to encourage your heart into the love of Jesus. My prayer is that you hear the whispers of God through my art. He speaks to us in so many ways!

I'm also compelled to create beauty when I behold the beauty all around that my Creator made, each facet a new expression of the beauty of God. I take in the simple joys and blessings here in this moment. When my soul is bursting with light I can't help but try to capture a fraction of it on canvas, if only to hold onto it a little bit longer and remember the goodness of God and the glorious wonder of who He is.

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and minor degrees in art history and psychology as well as a master's degree in Art Therapy and I'm a life long student in God's word. He is my greatest source of inspiration.
